Managing credentials for non-compatible resources within OpenAthens

With a large number of platforms and resources that remain incompatible with OpenAthens, managing their credentials separately in external systems has become an increasingly complex and time-consuming task for organizations. Given OpenAthens' role in streamlining authentication, having a centralized solution where both OpenAthens authentication and manual login credentials can be managed in one place would significantly reduce administrative overhead and improve efficiency. Supporting this capability within OpenAthens would create a more comprehensive authentication management system, benefiting institutions facing similar challenges.

Is this currently impacting your ability to use OpenAthens effectively? Yes

We have a need for this as well. It would be great for a permissions based user/password sharing feature. Right now we have to host an internal app / workaround

UCF is an OpenAthens customer, but our College of Medicine still uses EZproxy. Several of the CoM resources use U/P for authentication. Until OpenAthens can manage credentials, we will not be able to convince the CoM to migrate to OpenAthens.

There is a definite need for Open Athens to support and allow for proxied URLs to carry unique information, attributes and passwords.

A great need here. Many smaller companies can't support SSO and provide username and password access only. Having a secure and user friendly method of passing users to their databases would be ideal.
